Gay marriage

Is gay marriage a right? I don't think so. I am not even sure that marriage is a right.

However homosexuals are not denied any rights available to the rest of the population. I can't get married to someone of the same gender- not that I have any desire to do so.

Gay marriage bans passed during the last election in a number of states. I think it was less about gay marriage than it was about the overall liberalization of social mores in this country. When I was younger people waited to have children until after marriage, then when someone had a child before they were married it was quietly welcomed. Now we see unmarried persons having children as some sort of status symbol or as a way of saying "look I can do this - I can raise this child all by myself” when they generally fail miserably. This is quite trendy among the Hollywood homosexuals such as Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen Degeneris or however she spells it.

Raising a child by yourself on purpose does little to demonstrate extraordinary genius or tremendous success. What it does demonstrate is selfishness and a need to prove something to one's self.

By empowering ourselves we have lost a great deal of our moral code. It seems the baby has been thrown out with the bath water.
